Wet Synthesis of Graphene-Polypyrrole Nanocomposites via Graphite Intercalation Compounds

Graphene-polypyrrole (GP) nanocomposites were synthesized by a wet-way protocol using graphite bisulfate (GBS) precursor. Consequently, GBS, type of intercalation compound, was prepared in the presence concentrated sulfuric acid potassium periodate oxidizer. Three different types precursor with particle sizes <50 μm, ≥150, ≤830 and ≤2000 μm used for this purpose. It found that Raman spectra GBS samples, characteristic D band, which is caused defects graphene layer, disappears. Therefore, proposed synthesis could be considered as prospective intermediate stage preparation low defect concentration. In contrast to alkali metal intercalation, process involving anions relatively complex structure (e.g., HSO4−), has been much less studied requires further research. On basis results obtained, structural models compounds well GP discussed. The most relevant areas application nanocomposites, including energy storage (bio)sensing, considered. This work contributes development cost-effective, scalable, highly efficient methods, still remain significant challenge.
